Here is where you will find information about GHS AVID Community Service opportunities. AVID students are expected to participate in community service to practice a global mindset in giving back to their communities. Read below to see how this is integrated in the AVID curriculum and expectations.
See the document to the left to access opportunities for the current 6-weeks. Ask your AVID teacher for additional service opportunities. Remember, community service is an honor, a grade, AND a distinction in AVID. 96 hours is the minimum expectation by the end of high school, and 192 hours is required by graduation to attain the AVID Distinction. Teachers keep track of students' individual hours in folders as well as a shared document that rolls up with students as they progress through high school.
