JOIN THE SQUAD

The cheer squad is only open to 7th and 8th grade SMS students. If you are interested in joining the 2026-2027 cheer squad, please see the list of MANDATORY dates below.

Registration Packet Posted: 

• NEW DATE: February 23, 2026

• Packet will be posted in Google Classroom (code: 4vhff7qa)

• Packets may be printed at home or picked up at the mandatory parent meeting on March 3.

MANDATORY Parent Meeting: 

• March 3, 2026 

• 6:00-7:00 pm in the SMS cafeteria

• Parents MUST attend this meeting or their student will not be eligible to join the squad. Students are encouraged to attend. 

Registration Paperwork Due:

• Friday, March 13, 2026 by 4:20pm

• Students must turn in a copy of the registration packet to Ms. DeHondt (portable 16) or the front office. 

• Physicals are due March 13, 2026 with the registration packet. The latest I can accept a physical is March 24, 2026 (day before tryouts).

MANDATORY Evaluations/Tryouts: 

• Optional tryout prep: March 24 - 4:30 to 6:30 pm

Candidates must attend all 3 dates listed below. 

• March 25 - 4:30 to 6:30 pm

• March 26 - 4:30 to 6:30 pm

• March 27 - 4:30 to end (end time will depend on number of candidates trying out)

You must have a current physical on file in order to attend tryouts. Physicals must be turned in by March 24.

MANDATORY Uniform Fitting:

• March 31, 2026

• The fitting will take place during the school day

• Students only

MANDATORY Summer Camp: 

• July 13-17, 2026

• 8:00-5:00 pm every day

• Cheerleaders who do not attend all full days of summer camp cannot join the squad. 

MANDATORY Spartan Camp:

• Last week of July (2 days, exact dates TBA)

• Location: Stiles Middle School

You will not be eligible to join the 2026-2027 SMS Cheer Squad if you do not attend all of the dates listed above.
