Leaving Early
Please contact the Main Office (either by calling 512-570-3700 or sending in a note). Allow additional time for pick up as we will not send for the student until the guardian arrives.
Proper ID is required for student pickup. The guardian picking up the student MUST be listed on the emergency contact list.
Any time your student is checked out early from school a parent note or proper documentation is required within 48 hours. Parent checkout does not take the place of a parent or medical note. For your convenience, you may complete a note at the time your student is leaving.
Procedure for Returning to School After ANY Absence
Students returning to school after any absence must go directly to the Receptionist or the Attendance Office before going to their current class.
Students meeting the criteria to return to school will receive an Attendance Admit Hall Pass to be given to their current period teacher.
Teachers will not admit students who have been absent from class without an Attendance Admit Hall Pass.
If a student does not meet the criteria for returning to school, they will wait in the lecture hall and a parent/guardian will be immediately notified take them home.
How to Report an Absence
All absence notes must be received within 48 hours (2 days) of the student returning to campus.
Absences may be reported by parent note via email from the parent/guardians email address on file to fpmsattendance@leanderisd.org. Notes may also be hand delivered to the Attendance office. Medical notes can be emailed by the parent, turned in by the student or faxed/emailed from the doctor's office. PHONE CALLS DO NOT EXCUSE AN ABSENCE.
Notes must include the dates of absences. Notes that include days of the week without dates will not be accepted.
All notes must include the following information:
Students Full Legal Name
Student's ID# and Grade
Date(s) of Absence
Reason for Absence
Parent's Signature
Parent Phone Number
Current Date
Please note:
Absences cannot be coded based on a phone call. Notes or emails must be submitted as described above.
If an absence is due to a medical appointment, it is ALWAYS best to turn in a medical note.
Absence codes can be monitored in the Students HAC (Home Access Center)
It can take up to 5 days for an absence to be updated once documentation is received.
Absences can not be updated once a 6 weeks grading cycle has closed.
Late to School
Students arriving after 9:05 must sign in with the Attendance office or at the Front desk to receive a pass to go to class.
Picking Your Student Up from the Clinic
If you take your child home from the clinic, you must sign them out in the Main Office.
If a student is going home by parent choice, please send a note to get the absence excused.
LISD Automated Phone & Email System
Attendance is taken in each class period during the day by the classroom teacher. If your student is marked absent in any class period, it will trigger the phone system to call and/or e-mail your home that evening. This serves both as a notification and as a reminder to send a note for verification.
We understand errors may occur in posting during the day, so if the system calls and you feel it has done so in error, please contact the teacher. After the teacher sends verification we will correct the error.
Pre-Arranged Absences
A form must be obtained and turned into the Attendance Office for any pre-arranged extended absence(s) at least one week prior to the absence(s). Please see the student handbook for further clarification.
Note: A pre-arranged absence does not mean the absence will be excused.
