My Visual Art Teaching Philosophy: Young artists benefit from opportunities to explore materials and express their ideas in such media as paint, clay, drawing, collage, digital art, fiber arts, printmaking, and sculpture. Leander ISD Visual Art Mission Statement: The focus of LISD middle school art classes is to create works of art using creative problem solving skills and critical thought, while learning technique, the language of design, and art history.


There are two main goals in Art Class:

6th Graders areer Self-Portraits

Jr. VASE Award Winners 2018

Klarissa Marneweck won a Jr. VASE platinum medal for her watercolor painting, "The Wave". 
Grace Park, received a Jr. VASE platinum medal for her piece, "Overgrown",  which only a very small percentage of the 800 or so students who participated receive.
Emma Prilop received a silver medal for her sculpture, "Senses".
Sydney Smith received a silver medal for her piece, "Watery Appearance". 
Greta Erdman won a silver medal for her painting, "Bliss". 
Great Erdman also won a second silver medal for her watercolor painting, "Growth".
Phyllis Lau received a silver medal for her painting, " The Girl and the Fox". 
Liana Mina won a silver medal for her painting, "Don't Forget to Stop and Smell the Flowers". 
Ashritha Chandy received a silver medal for her piece, "Moonlight Lake".
