My Visual Art Teaching Philosophy: Young artists benefit from opportunities to explore materials and express their ideas in such media as paint, clay, drawing, collage, digital art, fiber arts, printmaking, and sculpture. Leander ISD Visual Art Mission Statement: The focus of LISD middle school art classes is to create works of art using creative problem solving skills and critical thought, while learning technique, the language of design, and art history.
There are two main goals in Art Class:
- Learn how to use the creative process to create original art.
- Develop skills with a variety of media (art materials) and processes.
Course Description
There are two main goals in Art Class:
- Learn how to use the creative process to create original art.
- Develop skills with a variety of media (art materials) and processes.
Weeks 1 - 6
Learn how to use a variety of media and processes, including drawing and painting with various materials, collage, 3D construction/sculpture and clay.
Keep a visual journal to record new learning.
Weeks 7- 12
Introduction of digital techniques such as animation and design software, as well as sewing and other fiber arts. Work with themes to create original art.
Apply your knowledge of the creative process and media/ technique to develop and create.
Keep a visual journal to record your artistic process.
Weeks 13 - 16
Find inspiration and create a collection of self-directed artwork that shows your knowledge and skill with media/process.
Create a digital portfolio that provides evidence of growth and learning.
