Numbers of the Week
Students can capitalize their Name, the word I and use proper punctuation when writing a sentence.
Learning Habits
Students listen to learn and focus on the lesson. Strategies we use in class are "eyes watching, ears listening, voice quiet, body still".
Science
Throughout this module, students study the anchor phenomenon, life in a longleaf pine forest, and build an answer to the Essential Question: Why are gopher tortoises disappearing? As students explore each concept, they develop and refine a class anchor model to represent the living and nonliving parts of the longleaf pine forest environment and the ways that plants and animals, including humans, change this environment when they interact with it to get what they need. At the end of the module, students explain the anchor phenomenon and demonstrate their knowledge of key concepts by applying those concepts to a new phenomenon in an End-of-Module Assessment. Through these experiences, students develop an enduring understanding that when living things change their environment to get what they need, those changes can affect other living things.
