Regular and punctual attendance is the greatest single factor in school success. Texas Compulsory Attendance Law requires students to attend school regularly, unless otherwise exempted by law. It is the responsibility of the parent and student to cooperate and communicate with the school on all attendance matters. Proper documentation must be provided by the student and/or parent/guardian within 48 hours of the student’s return to school after an absence. See LISD's attendance page for complete attendance policy.
Our school nurse is named Kim Dodd RN. She is the best resource for questions about whether your child should come to school, medications, or other health concerns. You can reach her directly at 512-570-8427. The school nurse will contact you if your child gets sick at school, only if you opt-in for this service. Thanks for making sure all emergency numbers are kept current. Please make sure to provide consent here for your child to be seen by our school nurse in the event that medical attention is needed.
All medication must be turned in directly to the nurse’s office with the district’s medical form. These forms may be obtained in the nurse’s office. Medications must be in the original container with accompanying instructions. Teachers are not allowed to give medication to students. Students are not allowed to bring medication in their backpacks (this includes cough drops).
Please make sure your child knows how to open their own lunch containers and water bottles without assistance. Teachers will help, if necessary, but will always push for independence!
If your child will be purchasing lunch from the cafeteria, please refer to this website for pricing and menus.
Make sure to label your child's lunch box, water bottle, and snack!
Pre-K 3 & ESLE: These classes will eat all meals in the classroom.
We play outside every day unless there is thunder/lightning or temperatures below 35 degrees. We will shorten play time during extreme temperatures. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for school, weather, and outside play, including athletic or closed-toe shoes.
We love to celebrate your students! If you would like to send treats for the class, non-food items are preferred due to varying food allergies and restrictions some children may have. For example, pencils, stickers, books, trinkets, etc. Please do not send food items.
We do not require you to purchase school supplies. However, if you are willing and able, please refer to this website for the most current list. Additionally, if you would like to donate items to your child’s class, please see your teacher’s Amazon Classroom Wishlist (links are provided on their webpage).
The following items must be brought to school everyday, labeled with your child’s first and last name:
Backpack (large enough to hold a folder, water bottle, lunchbox, and nap blanket)
Reusable, spill-proof water bottle
Breakfast and Lunch (if not eating from the cafeteria)
HALF-DAY PK3 ONLY: We will have only one meal time - Breakfast for the AM class or lunch for the PM class.
Light jacket or sweater (it can be cold in the school building)
Folder (sent home on Fridays, returned to school on Mondays)
1-2 complete changes of clothes to be kept at school (shirt, bottoms, underwear, and socks)
PK4/ELE ONLY:
Nap blanket (We will send home the blanket to be washed on Fridays and ask that you send it back on Mondays)
Healthy snack
We recommend NOT to send these items to school:
Special clothing or shoes that cannot get dirty. We get messy, both inside and outside!
Shoes that are not easy to run and play in, such as dress shoes, sandals, and flip flops.
Toys or jewelry. These items can be distracting and may be easily lost or broken.
Each Friday your child will bring home a folder. In the folder you will find your child's art work or any paperwork that is being sent home from the school or the teacher. Please check weekly.
Please RETURN the Friday Folder with your child on the following Monday.
We believe that parents are our partners in education and are excited to work with you this year!
Volunteering: There will be many opportunities throughout the year. Please make sure you have completed a volunteer background check for this year. You may do this here.
Visiting the School: Please schedule times to visit the school. This allows us to protect instructional time with your students. We welcome visitors during lunch time. *We are asking parents to wait until the first week of September to begin lunch visits. This will allow all of us to get comfortable with our lunchtime routines. Thank you!
All visitors and volunteers MUST check in and out with the front office after their scheduled visit is completed.
