High school courses taken while a student is in middle school do not count toward the student's GPA. Only credit is transferred. This is true whether the student is (a) physically at CRMS taking an LISD high school credit course (i.e. Spanish I, Algebra 1, Geometry, Art 1), (b) physically at VHS taking the course via LISD, or (c) the student is taking the course virtually through correspondence. High school credit courses taken through LISD summer school between the student's 8th and 9th grade year will count toward the student's high school GPA. Correspondence courses will still only count toward credit.
High school credit will satisfy the course credit. However, some courses do also have a required EOC (end of course) exam that is required for high school graduation. Typically, the course we test at the middle school level for an EOC is Algebra 1. We offer this EOC on campus at CRMS as part of our STAAR testing.
