Performances and Projects (40%)- Theatre is ALL about performing and producing creative work. We will have performances/projects throughout each semester. For all major performances and projects, students will be given a rubric to follow so they know ahead of time what my expectations are.
Participation (15%)- Being present is so important in the theatre world. This course will include collaboration amongst peers which makes it crucial that each student participates. Participation Grades will be taken daily and the weekly average will be recorded in the grade book.
Written Assignments and Daily Work (15%)- Students will be given written and short assignments throughout the semester. This can include but is not limited to: worksheets, written summaries, occasional quizzes, and personal/peer performance feedback. Students will be given enough time to finish these assignments in class but will be allowed to take them home and finish as necessary.
Etiquette (30%)- Proper audience etiquette is a skill and requirement in the theatre class. In order to achieve a perfect etiquette grade, students will need to stay focused on the task at hand. Students who cause disruptions in class will receive deductions to their etiquette grades. Similar to the participation grade, the etiquette grade will be taken weekly.
Late Work- Assignments that are due at the end of the class period may be turned in for up to full credit if submitted no more than 10 minutes at the end of the school day. (3:45pm)
Assignments in google classroom that are due at 11:59pm may be turned in for up to full credit if submitted by 8am the following morning.
Each day after the grace period of a due date, the grade gets capped 10 points lower. (Ex. If an assignment is due on Monday at 11:59pm, but not turned in until Tuesday at 8:01am, it will be capped at a 90, then 80, then 70.) After five school days, work will no longer be accepted and will be put in as a 0.
Make Up Work- Students will have one day per day missed to make up any work that they missed while they were out of class. If you know that you won't be in class on a certain day, please contact me so that we can be in communication on what needs to be done. If a student is absent during a performance day, they will be expected to complete that performance the first day they come back to class.
Extra Credit- At any point during the semester, students can receive 5 points of extra credit on their lowest daily grade by seeing a live show. Live shows include: theatrical performances, dance shows, concerts, etc. In order to receive the extra credit, students should bring in a ticket stub and program with their name clearly written on/attached to the documents. If tickets and/or programs are not distributed at the event, a "selfie" at the event may be used as a substitute, along with a signed note from a parent saying the student attended the performance.
