Should I fill out the fafsa?

Yes! The FAFSA is required for high school graduation. 

US citizens and eligible noncitizens planning to attend college, trade school, or certification program:

• Submit the FAFSA in order to qualify for federal student aid

• Not sure if you are eligible based on citizenship status? Check the studentaid.gov eligibility webpage for more info.

Students can submit an opt-out form but here are a few things to consider:

• The FAFSA is the first step in the financial aid process - by submitting the FAFSA you are opening the door to free money for college.

• Students planning to enter the workforce or those who have already enlisted in the military can submit the FAFSA opt-out form.

• Students considering a 2-yr, 4-yr, or trade school should submit the FAFSA; opt-out form is available but opting out means you are ready to pay full price for your college education.
