Hello Pre K families!
I'm so excited to be your teacher this year. This is going to be a great year! Here's a little about me.
My name is Catherine Peabody. This will be my fifth year in education and Leander ISD. I have been teaching second grade for two years here at Camacho, and am thrilled to be moving to Pre-K this year! I have also worked in special education and Pre-K. I earned a BS from Texas A&M University, Gig'em! There I double majored in biomedical science and psychology. I also earned a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Sam Houston State last year, Eat'em up Kats! I can't wait to get this year started.
Teaching is my passion. I love spending my days working with students. I love connecting with them and having the chance to make a difference in their lives. My classroom is a second home for students, and I strive to welcome all students and families. I'm a strong proponent of inquiry-based, child-centered learning, and I use conscious discipline to help students develop social-emotional intelligence through relational practices in a classroom structured as a "class family" where they feel welcome, safe, loved, and supported; treat each other with kindness and respect; encourage responsibility; and learn resiliency. I set high expectations because I believe in them. I want students to not be afraid to make mistakes because, after all, mistakes come from trying new things. Through fun and engaging play, your child will build important skills like teamwork and problem-solving. We will play, explore, and learn together.
In my free time I enjoy knitting, exercising, reading, enjoying the outdoors, and watcing Aggie football. My biggest passion and pride are my students and my own kids.
My wonderful husband, Patrick, and I have been married for 22 years. He’s an assistant principal at Vista Ridge High School. We have four pretty amazing kids. My oldest son will be starting at UT Dallas in the fall studying animation and game design. My daughter will be a junior at Vista Ridge. She loves choir and FFA. My younger boys are in 7th and 4th grade. My ten year old loves sports, boy scouts, and camping; and my youngest son insists he will grow up to be a farmer.
I promise that your child will grow so much this year. I can't wait to get to know each of you and work with you to ensure the best year ever for your child.
