I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, 2D Studio with a minor in journalism from the University of Texas - Pan American (now UTRGV) in 2005. I got my first job as an art teacher at La Joya ISD and worked for 5 years there before moving to Leander ISD. This year will be my 21st year as an art teacher, my 16th year as a Rouse Raider!
While in college, I did a short stint as a muralist's assistant and helped paint a colorful mural that spanned the walls of the entire NICU hallway in the city's hospital.
Prior to that, I was a medical assistant for a few years with the Head Start Program in the the Rio Grande Valley.
I completed my Master's in Arts Leadership and Cultural Management in 2020 and am driven to help create and inspire a bigger, better visual arts program here at Rouse High School!
That is my lovely family on the left there. I have been married over 30 years to Mr. Acevedo, who is a teacher/coach at Liberty Hill High School. I have 3 grown children, all pursuing their own educational and career dreams. I am very proud of them! And this past year, I became a grammy to a beautiful grandson, who lives over 3000 miles away.
I love photography, painting, mixed media, hiking, walking, traveling and writing!
My personal daily goals are to share joy and spread positivity.
