A little about myself...

I am Ms. Cordes, born and raised in Austin, Texas. I graduated from Texas State University in 2012; receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting and Art Education. I am a working artist, love to support art in the community, and enjoy teaching and sharing the knowledge and skills I've acquired to all of my students.  I have two puppies, which are usually the main stars of my artworks.

I was drawn to art at a young age because I feel it is a unique way to learn about world cultures, teaches creative problem-solving, and develops a concept of multiple perspectives. (Shows people that there are many ways to see and interpret the world!) Art also helps students learn to appreciate constructive criticism. Receiving constructive criticism about an art piece is a regular part of art instruction. Students learn that feedback is part of learning and it is not something to be offended by or to be taken personally. It is something helpful. The goal is the improvement of skills and critical thinking. And above all art is fun!!!
