Classes

The Theatre Classes 1-4 are designed for students who want to try theatre, need a fine art credit or enjoy theatre but can not committ to afterschool rehearsals.

This class will show you the many facets of theatre and what to do with theatre skills besides being an actor.

You are expected to participate and have a good attitude.

Production ONE- A freshman only audition based class. This class will be like a bootcamp for being successful in the program. It will spend a lot of time on Characterization, audition skills and other acting exercises. The year will culminate with a Freshman only play directed by one of our upperclassmen. All students are encouraged to audition for all after school productions and work crew.

Production 2-4- The students in the upperclassmen production classes have earned a placement through their day to day dedication and work ethic in their prior classes. Many of these students are preparing for theatre as part of their continuing education or in the field immediately. We spend a great deal of time working on those special auditions, resumes, and the continuing development of skills. The student have input in their focus.

Musical Theatre- This class has the following prerequisites:

You must have had 2 HS choir classes,

or 1 theatre class and one choir,

or 1 of either and been cast in the HAYA musical.

This class will cover some musical theatre history. important contributors, styles and performances, how does your voice work and how to protect it, etc. YES, there will be dancing!!!

This class produces a cabaret in the first semester and then a student led musical in the Spring. This musical is only comprised of classmembers, there are NO auditions.

Supplies needed: it is recommended that all students are regularly equipt with a pencil and pen.
