All students in advanced biology are required to participate in science fair. 30% of your grade will be based on projects. More information on the requirements for science fair is in the google classroom.
Since a big component of advanced biology is science fair, this may help you come up with ideas for projects and understand how I can help you succeed!
(Volunteer) TXSEF Judge 2022 & 2024
In 2024, I was judge captain for my table. I have judged in both the chemistry & materials science categories in the junior division! Ask me about:
what criteria we used to judge projects
how we choose between equally good projects
what determining factors there were in how we picked overall winners
what you have to look forward to if you make it to Texas A&M in the spring for the State Competition!
Student Intern @ Southwest Research Institute, Summer 2023 + Summer 2024
Surface Engineering & Materials Chemistry Lab
At this internship, I had a lot of projects. Ask me about:
different types of materials, including: color changing materials; 2D materials; UV resins
lab techniques: electrolysis; inorganic synthesis; screen printing; spectrometry; microscopy; material durability testing; determining the composition of something; data analysis
Talent Develop Academy Intern @ Eli Lilly & Company, Summer 2023
Medicines Innovation Hub - Discovery Chemistry Research Technology
My main project here was to do computational medicinal chemistry. Ask me about:
understanding how the structure of a molecule influences the function of that molecule in the body
doing a computational search of different molecule structures to match specific protein targets
simulating different properties of a molecule based on the structure
Student Assistant @ Texas A&M Biomedical Engineering, SY 2021-2022
Responsive Biomaterials Lab
My main project here was to synthesize a type of polymer called a liquid crystal elastomer, which is a shape changing material. Ask me about:
polymer testing (such as durability & temperature testing)
making plastics and other polymers
NSF REU Intern @ UT Austin CDCM MRSEC REU
Roberts Lab
In this project I worked on using python to simulate electrons in a material for making solar panels more effective! Ask me about:
how solar panels work and different types of solar panels
python coding and mathematical simulations
