Advanced (formerly Pre-AP)
Advanced courses are designed to challenge as well as prepare students for Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Advanced courses prepare students for college-level work while in high school. Student enrolled in advance course are expected to go above and beyond what is asked, exhibit good time management skills and have high interest in the subject matter.
Advanced Placement (AP)Â
AP courses are as challenging as introductory college courses. They are fast-paced, cover more material than regular classes, and require independent work like research and analysis. AP classes give students the chance to experience college-level work while they're in high school. Students enrolled in an AP course are encouraged to take the AP exam to potentially earn college credit.
Dual Credit (DC)
The Dual Credit Program at Austin Community College (ACC) allows students the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. Credit earned through dual credit counts for both high and college credit in a core content or an elective and fulfills high school graduation requirements.
OnRamps (OR)
OnRamps works through a dual enrollment model. Using a hybrid delivery approach, students meet rigorous university-level college readiness standard and have the opportunity to earn UT Austin credit from a UT faculty member and high credit from their local teacher.
