Procedures, Rules, & Grading Policy

Rules and Procedures

Welcome to sixth grade math. We are really excited about the 2020-2021 school year! Our advice to you is to work hard and always do your best. We are here for you; come see any one of us if you need help!

1. Four Rules for Success:

  • demonstrate respectful and appropriate behavior in the classroom

  • be on time to class and in your seat working on the starter when the bell rings

  • always bring your supplies and positive attitude to class

  • when the teacher or another student is talking, give your full attention

2. Materials needed every day:

  • math spiral

  • pencil with eraser

  • current unit booklet

  • completed homework

3. Class work and Practice:

  • Write in pencil only and show all work.

  • Work should be completed and turned in on time. Late work may be turned in up to 1 day for partial credit.

  • If you're absent, make sure to check in with the teacher and/or classmates to find out what you missed. Making up missed work is your responsibility.

  • If you are struggling with your daily work, please see any of the math teachers for help.

Grading:

90% - Assessments (quizzes and tests)

10% - Daily work (skills practice- i.e. worksheets, homework, IXL, etc.) and

participation

We use the built-in redo system. Quiz grades will be replaced by the End of Unit Test grade, if the test grade is higher than the quiz grade. If the End of Unit Test grade is lower than the quiz grades, the higher grades will stand. There is no redo for the End of Unit Test, so you need to study for the End of Unit Tests.
