Mark's Thoughts About
In the Footsteps of the Savior

There are several components of this study, none of which you would need to procure on your own -- portions of this material will be provided to class members week by week as needed:
A book ($14, 2023, ~200 pages) which is a typical Max Lucado book, e.g., On the Anvil, He Chose the Nails, No Wonder They Call Him the Savior, etc. By "typical" I mean: (a) Warm pastoral tone, (b) Devotional / inspirational focus, (c) Accessible, conversational language, (c) Illustrative storytelling (anecdotes, parables), (e) Emphasis on grace, hope, encouragement, and (f) Broad evangelical theology (nontechnical, nonacademic). It focuses more on "felt needs" vs. in-depth scripture study or exegesis. This is not a bad thing. Often it is more helpful to people than technical, academic language studies of original languages, for example. It depends on where a person "is." And as far as "felt needs" go, I don't know of anyone who handles how Scripture can help with our daily struggles and life's challenges better than Max Lucado.
Streaming Videos -- You can access these for free [as of 2/2026] by signing up at THIS LINK or buy the DVD at Amazon along with the Study Guide.
Study Guide ($10, 206 pages) -- This is tailored to correspond to the six streaming videos, with five smaller "personal study" sections per video. The assumed schedule (which we may or may not follow if we do this as a class) is one video each week, interspersed with 5 ~daily personal study sections.
Bible Atlas -- The publisher sells optional (for the study) items at THIS LINK. (If you do decide to purchase any of this material, you might also want to check at Amazon as prices fluctuate to some degree from week to to week.)
Various Graphics -- If you sign up with the publisher for the online study, they also email you some nice graphical study aids, e.g., Holy Land Map, Place Names Then and Now, What Happened Where, etc. CLICK HERE to see snippets of these materials.
So, "where" are you? Is your life unraveling and you are looking for something, anything, to help put it back together? Or... are you looking for tools to help someone else who is in this situation? Or would it be helpful for you to be encouraged in your faith? Then IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE SAVIOR may be the study that would help you the most. But if you are looking for (or need) a study that dives deeply into technical Bible issues (translations, cultural innuendos, over-arching themes of inspired works, etc.), then you might benefit by looking at a different sort of study.
Note: Whether we as a class elect to go through this material or not, you can sign up for the IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE DAVIOR Online Bible Study at THIS LINK yourself if you wish.
