Daniel Romo was born and raised in East Oakland. Growing up, all the schools he attended were near his vicinity.
Brookfield Elementary presented a safe walking distance from Mr. Romo's home, James Madison Middle school felt like a brisk drive, and LPS Oakland came in as an easy commute. During his time in public education, his parents constantly emphasized the importance of academics as the pathway to a higher social status. These words always stuck with him, and their utterance in Spanish made them that much harder to forget. School mostly always held a spot in the foreground, the background of his life involved sports, volunteer opportunities, and summer jobs.
When Mr. Romo isn't spending time with friends and family, you can find him walking to the gym listening to beats from across the world while bobbing his head. He enjoys spending time at the gym because of its physical challenges. The way Mr. Romo sees it, if he's keeping his mind healthy, then he should take steps to keep his body at the same level.
