Dauphin County Technical School is a full-time, comprehensive public career and technical high school serving Central Dauphin, Derry Township, Halifax Area, Harrisburg, Lower Dauphin, Middletown Area, Millersburg Area, Steelton-Highspire, Susquehanna Township, and Upper Dauphin School Districts. Students from other school districts may attend on a tuition basis.
Why should you attend DCTS? DCTS provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to actively enter a dynamic and competitive high skills workforce and/or postsecondary education through the utilization of a curriculum firmly grounded in academic and workforce industry-based standards. We offer 24 state-of-the-art Career Technical Education Programs of Study for students to choose from. In addition to rigorous career and technical instructional component, students at DCTS enroll in a variety of core academic classes. Students may elect to take college preparatory, honors, advanced placement (AP) and college level classes. Students who complete all of the course requirements for graduation will earn a high school diploma from Dauphin County Technical School. Following is a list of current Programs of Study at DCTS:
Construction and Manufacturing: Building Construction Technology, Carpentry, Electrical Construction & Maintenance, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), Landscaping & Greenhouse Production, Masonry, Engineering and Machining Design, Welding Technology
Visual Arts and Information Technology: Commercial Art, Computer Networking Technology, Engineering Drafting Design, Web Development & Design
Health Sciences and Public Services: Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Dental Assistant, Emergency & Protective Services, Exercise & Sports Science, Medical Assistant, Nursing Foundations, Veterinary Assistant
Transportation: Automotive Technology, Collision Repair Technology, Diesel Technology, Small Engine Equipment Technology
Please Note: Ninth grade students will rotate through all Programs of Study prior to making a final career and technical program selection.
Application Process:
Students interested in attending the Dauphin County Technical School can apply in the winter of 8th grade (or in the spring of 9th, 10th or 11th grade). Interested students should contact their school counselor to complete the required application within the allotted timeframe.
