SMILE! Poem: The thing that goes the farthest towards making life worth while, That costs the least and does the most is just a pleasant smile.. The smile that bubbles from a heart that loves its fellow men, Will drive away the clouds of gloom and coax the sun again. It's full of worth and goodness too with genial kindness blent.. It's worth a million dollars and it doesn't cost a cent!

About me

Work+Family: I'm thrilled to be teaching here! I've been at Mercer (7-12 grade English) and also taught outdoors/environmental education for many years in New York, Maine, Minnesota and Wisconsin. I grew up in Illinois on a farm and it felt like the middle of nowhere. Now I'm really in the middle of nowhere in Presque Isle (about 40 mins north from here)! My family and I are getting ready to move closer to Lac du Flambeau. I have two kids (7th and 8th grade), two dogs (Wally and Peppers), and a hard-working husband that I love muchos!

Hobbies: I like to read (a few of my favorite MS books are Wonder, Percy Jackson, The Absolutely True Diary of Part-Time Indian, Counting by 7s, The Crossover, Inside Out & Back Again, Airborn, The Hunger Games, Absolutely Almost), ride my bike, cook, and watch any kind of sports. My favorites are my kids sports (baseball, hockey, volleyball and softball), and of course, the Brewers and Packers! I love music and dabble in the guitar - would love to learn how to play for real someday.

My Hero: My hero is my dad who passed away August 13, 2020. He lived life to the fullest and tried to focus on the big picture. His way of life reminds me to be positive, kind, and to help others whenever I can. Here is a poem about smiles that he knew by heart and repeated often.
