Supporting All Lancaster City School Students
At Lancaster City Schools, we believe in supporting every student’s success - academically, socially, and emotionally. Students do not need to be identified for special education to receive help. We use a schoolwide approach called MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) to provide early and targeted support when students need it.
MTSS helps students in several areas:
Academics
Behavior
Social and emotional skills
Attendance
Based on each student’s individual needs, we provide specific interventions. These may include extra support during lessons, adjustments to classroom tasks, or help with developing social and emotional skills.
Each school also has a Family and Student Support Coordinator (FSSC) who works closely with families. The FSSC can:
Connect families to school programs like mentoring, counseling, and social skills groups
Help students with check-in/check-out systems to build routine and accountability
Provide links to community resources, such as food, clothing, housing, and mental health services
MTSS is often the first step when a student needs extra help with learning or behavior. If you have concerns about your child’s progress, please reach out to your child’s teacher or principal. We’re here to work with you and support your child every step of the way.
Together, we can help your child succeed.
