Dear Families,
Welcome to the Lancaster City Schools Special Education Department! My name is Brenda Zeiders, and I am honored to serve as the Director of Special Education. With over 30 years of experience in education, I remain deeply committed to supporting students with diverse learning needs and working closely with families and educators to help every child succeed.
Our department proudly serves students with disabilities, ages 3 to 21, offering a wide range of services, supports, and evaluations tailored to meet individual needs. We are dedicated to identifying and supporting students in the following areas:
Autism
Cognitive Disabilities
Multiple Disabilities
Specific Learning Disabilities
Other Health Impairments (Minor/Major)
Orthopedic Impairments
Emotional Disturbance
Hearing Impairments
Visual Impairments
Deaf-Blindness
Traumatic Brain Injury
Speech or Language Impairments
In addition, we provide services and accommodations for students who qualify under Section 504.
All services are provided in compliance with Ohio’s Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities, the Special Education Model Policies and Procedures, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) of 2004. Currently, Lancaster City Schools supports approximately 1,000 students with identified disabilities.
Our mission is to partner with families to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive educational experience for every student. We believe that strong collaboration between schools and families is the foundation for student success, and we welcome your input, questions, and involvement every step of the way.
