Seal Criteria
State Seals
Military Enlistment Seal: Provide evidence that the student has enlisted in a branch of the U.S. Armed forces OR participates in an approved JROTC program.
Technology Seal: A student can: Earn a score that is at least equivalent to proficient on an appropriate Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exam OR earn a final course grade that is equivalent to a “B” or higher in an appropriate class taken through the College Credit Plus program OR complete a course offered through the district that meets guidelines developed by the department.
Industry-Recognized Credential Seal: Earn a 12 point approved industry-recognized credential or group of credentials totaling 12 points in a single career field.
OhioMeansJobs (OMJ) Readiness Seal: Meet the requirements and criteria established for the readiness seal, including demonstration or work-readiness and professional competencies.
Citizenship Seal: A student can: Earn a score of proficient or higher on BOTH the American History and American Government end-of-course exams OR earn a score that is at least equivalent to proficient on appropriate Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exams OR earn a final course grade that is equivalent to a “B” or higher in appropriate classes taken through the College Credit Plus program.
Science Seal: A student can: Earn a score of proficient or higher on the Biology end-of-course exams OR earn a score that is at least equivalent to proficient on appropriate Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exams OR earn a final course grade that is equivalent to a “B” or higher in appropriate classes taken through the College Credit Plus program.
State Seal of Biliteracy: Meet the requirements and criteria, including proficiency requirements on assessments, in a world language AND English.
College-Readiness: Earn remediation-free scores on the ACT or SAT (visit the website or speak to your counselor for remediation-free scores).
Honors Diploma Seal: Earn one of six Honors diplomas: Academic Honors Diploma, International Baccalaureate Honors Diploma, Career-Tech Honors Diploma, STEM Honors Diploma, Arts Honors Diploma, Social Science and Civic Engagement Honors Diploma
Local Seals
Community Service Seal: Students must complete a total of 40 volunteer hours while enrolled in grades 9-12. Students must choose to volunteer at an organization approved by their administrator/counselor prior to starting their hours. Students will document their hours and have their hours verified by a volunteer coordinator/supervisor (the verifier cannot be a relative).

Fine and Performing Arts Seal: Students must earn 1 credit of fine arts AND complete one of the following activities: Participate in a public performance/presentation/exhibition OR earn a score of 2 or higher on any Fine Arts AP exam OR earn a second high school credit in the area of Fine and Performing Arts OR complete 40 hours of documented time on Fine and Performing Arts activities outside of class time.
Earning a credit (1.0) in one of the following LHS courses will meet the course requirement criteria for earning the seal:

Student Engagement Seal: Students must participate in and complete activities that have a connection to the Lancaster City School District. Activities may include but are not limited to: extra-curricular athletics, extra-curricular clubs, mentoring/tutoring within the district, volunteering as a classroom, custodial, office helper, etc… In order to obtain the Student Engagement Seal, students must earn a combination of activities as follows: 2 Major activities (Major activities will equal 40 hours or more each) OR 4 Minor activities (Minor activities will equal less than 40 hours each) OR 1 Major AND 2 Minor activities.
