Best Practices
Welcome! Hopefully you are here because you are about to embark on teaching VA Math SOL 5.4, the practical problems standard. This is a huge but important undertaking! This site is meant to provide information about some of the current best practices for teaching practical problems.
As you click through the links below to read about best practices, watch the videos, and explore resources further, I'd encourage you to avoid becoming overwhelmed by the need to do it all. Instead, choose just one or two strategies that are new to you, and try them out. After you've tried them, reflect on what they added to your practice and your students's learning.
If you have questions about anything you read here, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help! Also, this is a work in progress. If you find any mistakes or think of something that should be clarified or added, please let me know.
