August 17-21:
Good Evening, KES Families,
Week 2 was a wonderful adventure at KES! Congratulations to our 4th graders who successfully completed Water Safety and Swim lessons, In addition, all grade levels completed the first week of our House Behavior System. Currently, Sollevare (Yellow House) is in the lead, but Onraka (Orange House) and Nukumori (Purple House) are close behind. All eight teams are off to a fantastic start!
Important Reminders from Last Week:
To ensure a safe and smooth arrival and dismissal process, please note the following:
Car Line Safety: Do not cut through the teacher parking lot when exiting the car line (unless you have been directed to wait there for your child). This is extremely dangerous and nearly caused a head-on collision last week during arrival procedures.
Pull Forward: Please pull all the way forward to our safety patrol team so multiple students can get into or out of cars safely and efficiently. Do not pull around a car unless a staff member advises you to do so.
Phone Calls During Dismissal: Between 2:00–2:20 p.m., staff are fully engaged in dismissal and may not be able to answer calls. In the event of an emergency, please text me directly at 803-804-6325.
Transportation Changes: All changes must be submitted in writing. If you are picking up children other than your own, please notify us in advance.
Safety Patrol: If your 5th grader is serving on afternoon safety patrol, please plan to pick them up at the end of the car line at approximately 2:20 p.m.

Be Present Campaign: KES is proud to participate in the state’s Be Present campaign to improve student attendance and punctuality. Did you know that being just 5 minutes late each day adds up to 15 hours of missed instruction over the course of a year? Every minute truly counts! We will have activities throughout the month of September to make certain that attendance at school is a top priority!
Family Handbook: The KES Student/Family Handbook is available online at KES Student/Family Handbook.
With appreciation,
Kelli Overcash
