Good Evening, KES Families!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Fall Break! It's hard to believe that we are moving into the last week of the first quarter of this school year!
🏆 HOUSE SYSTEM UPDATE
After our house party last Friday, we ended with Sollevare (Yellow House) still at the top of the leaderboard. Reveur (Blue House) moved into second place, and Nukumori (Purple House) is in third place. Congratulations to the Blue House for earning 100 points by winning the House football throw challenge at our quarterly party!
⏰ ATTENDANCE UPDATE
The First Minutes Matter! Make sure your student arrives BY 7:25am each day! Out of 500 students, we are down to less than 8 tardies daily, but that is 8 too many. Our goal this week is to have ZERO unexcused tardies!
🍧 KES PTO NEWS
Our PTO will be selling Candy grams for Halloween beginning on 10/19. KES Shaved Ice will be back on 10/23. (More info to come as these events get closer.)

Monday, October 12-Friday, October 16-AJHS Homecoming Support (money goes to KARE of Kershaw through Kennedy Brice)
Duck Someone for $1! Students can purchase a duck for $1 to "duck" a friend, classmate, teacher, or even themselves.
Add an Accessory for an Additional $1! Want to make your duck even more fun? Students can purchase an accessory for an extra $1.
Sales Dates: Monday, September 29th – Friday, October 16th
Payment: Cash only, please. Money should be given to the homeroom teachers.
Duck Delivery: The ducks will be delivered to each classroom teacher for distribution.
Monday, October 12 – No school for students; Professional Development Day for KES staff
Tuesday, October 13-5K goes to see “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” play; 1st nine weeks ends
Wednesday-2nd grade CogAT testing (CogAT stands for Cognitive Abilities Test. It is a nationally standardized assessment that measures students' reasoning and problem-solving abilities rather than simply what they have learned in the classroom.)
Thursday-2nd grade CogAT testing
Friday, October 2-Students should wear their HOUSE colors! AJHS athletes will greet students in the morning. 2nd grade CogAT testing; 5th grade students go to Lee State Park

Monday, October 26-Friday, October 30-Red Ribbon Week (More info to come as it gets closer)
Tuesday, November 3-Election Day-No school for students or staff
