Does my child need to have experience to be in band?
Absolutely not! Some students have musical experience and some do not. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join band! There are no prerequisites.
Is band going to be a huge time commitment?

Nope! Here at ILIS, we do two big concerts a year and the 6th Grade band students take an annual field trip. The concerts will be in December and May. There is a possibility of having after school rehearsals for 6th Graders, however, students will be notified well in advanced so drop off and pick up arrangements can be made. 5th Grade band students will have no out of school commitments other than their December and May concerts.

Absolutely! There are several band students who participate in all different sports such as volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, and even hockey.
How do we know what instrument to get?

At the beginning of the year, 5th Grade students will go through instrument testing. After all the students have been tested, information on what instrument your child will be playing and how to go through the rent will be sent home. Information for this can be found here.
