About Mrs. Hill: English Department
The 2021-2022 school year marks my thirty-fourth year teaching and my first year here at Indian Land High School. I am in awe of this beautiful, new facility and the warm welcome I have received. I appreciate being a part of such a strong department. Go ENGLISH!
I have two grown children. My daughter Ella makes the third generation of educators in our family. My son Griffin is in school in the Clemson area and also works for The Cliffs Golf Course. My husband and I also have two Siamese cats: Winston Babycat Hill and Coco Chanel Chaton. These two fur boys make us sometimes think we are living in the movie, The Lady and the Tramp.
I feel blessed to still enjoy what I do. I love to teach students. I want my students to master the content and be prepared for the next step, whether that is the next grade of English in high school, college, military, or the workforce. I also strive to make the lessons engaging so that students don't dread coming to English class.
If you believe that I should know more about your child. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me during my planning period with a phone call or through email.
To list a few facts about me that you might be wondering.
I was born and raised in Mount Airy, North Carolina, home of Andy Griffith and the largest open-faced granite quarry in the world.
I graduated from Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina.
I student taught and then taught at Piedmont High in Union County, North Carolina until my retirement. I then taught in the Fort Mill School District for two years until arriving here in Indian Land.
Each day, I strive to update the Google Classroom with what we completed during class. This is a great way for students to review and reflect on the day. Also, absent students can read through the lesson to ascertain the concepts and activities that we covered in class. Finally, students can review the work that they need to complete as well as be reminded of long-range assignments.
I also maintain a CLASS REMIND. Students receive helpful hints and reminders regarding upcoming assignments and assessments.
