The Leadership Education and Training (LET) 1 course in the Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) high school program is the first of four core courses. The course's mission is to motivate young people to become better citizens and to help cadets succeed in high school and after graduation. LET 1 covers a range of topics, including:
Citizenship: Cadets learn about basic citizenship customs and traditions, and explore opportunities for military and non-military national service. They also learn about the history and purpose of Army JROTC, and are introduced to the Department of Defense and other services.
Leadership: Cadets learn about leadership skills and how to be a leader.
Wellness: Cadets learn about wellness and individual development.
Academic areas: LET 1 supports and enhances instruction in academic areas such as English, history, self awareness, communication, and physical education.
