Health Science stops the bleed

Greg Brasington, NRP is the Special Operations Coordinator, Public Information Officer, and First Responder Coordinator with Lancaster County EMS. He visited Dr Marshall's class on Thursday, October 19, to train Health Science students in "Stop the Bleed,"a critical and life-saving skill required in emergent situations involving trauma. Participating students will receive a state-recognized CTE credential for this training.

"The Spud family was on its way to Idaho for a family reunion, when the got mashed in a multi-vehicle collision. " Mr Spud and two of his (adopted) children have several injuries that require treatment.
-Mr Spud required amputation of the left lower leg, a splenectomy due to rupture of the spleen, suture repair of a head laceration, and a thoracotomy (chest tube) due to a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) caused by broken ribs.
-John Spud had an appendectomy.
-Jen Spud required a cast due to a fracture of the right patella (knee cap).

The BHS Model UN team attended their first competitive conference of the year. Kaleb Boykin won the Distinguished Delegate Award-- the highest award given at this conference.

BHS HOSA students traveled to Newberry College for the 2023 Fall Leadership Conference on Thursday, October 5th. See agenda for conference details. BHS HOSA Advisors are Courtney Marshall and Deanna Helms.
Students will have the opportunity to vote Friday, September 22 within their grade level Google Classroom.

Mrs. Herndon's English classes started the semester strong learning about email etiquette. Students learned valuable information to help them communicate using a positive tone and academic discourse. Learning how to communicate using a proper email format helps these teenagers adjust to life after high school.
