COMPUTER APPLICATIONS COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to introduce students to software applications that are necessary to live and work in a technological society. The applications covered include word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Course Learning Objectives: Topics covered by the 8th grade Computer Applications classes include: Typing Procedures Google Apps Computer and Software Fundamentals Word Processing Software Spreadsheet Software Presentation Software Database Software.
KEYBOARDING COURSE DESCRIPTION: The beginning of the course provides an opportunity for students to master the skill of entering alphabetic, numeric, and symbolic information on a keyboard and a ten-key pad using the touch method of key stroking. Emphasis is placed on development of accuracy and speed, proper techniques, and correct fingering. The second part of the course emphasizes formatting of basic letters, reports, tables, and other business documents. Composition and language skills are important components of the Keyboarding course. Course Learning Objectives: Students will learn to enter alphanumeric information using a keyboard and numeric keypad. Students will be able to type at a minimum speed of 30 words per minute with a maximum of three errors in a three minute duration. (This is the SC requirement for 7th grade students.) Students will learn to properly format and edit documents.
All students must bring paper, pencil, earbuds and a positive attitude towards learning each day to class.
