**Please let Mrs. Dinsmore know if you need help acquiring any of the necessary supplies listed below.
Supplies needed for ALL instruments:
Instrument, case, and bow (bass rented from THS; students with free/reduced lunch can rent a THS violin, viola, or cello)
Rosin
Cleaning Cloth
Name Tag for case
Wire Music Stand for home practicing (optional)
Violin and Viola Supplies:
Shoulder Rest (no foam, Kun brand (violin link--VIOLAS, buy the Kun brand for YOUR SIZE of viola--or Everest preferred)
D'Addario NS Micro Violin Tuner. (works for all violins, & for violas through size 14” and can be left on the instrument which has many benefits! For violas 15" and larger, this same tuner is available but labeled as viola.)
Cello Supplies:
Rock Stop or Strap (Something like this or this to prevent slippage and floor damage at home and concert)
Clip on chromatic tuner, recommended tuner. (says guitar, but works great for cello!)
Bass Supplies:
Rock Stop or Strap (Something like this or this, to prevent slippage and floor damage)
Clip on chromatic tuner, here is an example (says guitar, but clips on bass bridge)
Please do not purchase instruments online from places like Amazon, EBay, Walmart, etc. These instruments tend to break, do not stay in tune, and do not sound good, therefore they end up being very frustrating for students and families to use, resulting in additional costs for expensive repairs or potentially wasted money.
