Meet the Art Teachers

Rebecca Williams

Hello! Welcome to Art Class!!

It's going to be an exciting school year!  This is my fifth year in LCPS and I am excited to be at TMS!!  I have been an Art teacher, at the middle school level, for 35 years and I am so excited to be welcoming my 7th graders.  I graduated from Towson State University and have taken graduate classes at Mt. St. Mary's University and Towson University.   I have two children, one is a freshman at Shepherd University, and the other is a graphic designer and also enjoying an Art career.  My husband is a Technology Education teacher and has joined the pack at TMS!   We love to travel to Lake Anna and go fishing and camping.  I can also be found at my sewing machine, in my spare time!  I love to sew!

This year, I will strive to inspire students to create meaningful artworks that promote growth in technical skill and advance the students' knowledge of artistic styles.  Students will document this growth using a digital process portfolio that will be accessible on Schoology, details will be given in class.  I really believe that in Art class, effort is everything, so if you try hard, you will succeed in my class! Please visit their Digital porftolios on Schoology to follow their Art journey as we go through the year!

I am looking forward to teaching my new Art students, let's make it a great year!!

I am excited to be starting my 12th year of teaching, and my third year here with the pack at Trailside Middle School! I have taught art at all levels from elementary through to College level courses! I earned my BA Hons in Studio Arts/Sculpture from the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland, and continued my education at the University of Oregon to receive my MFA in Sculpture. Coming from a family of educators, for me a natural part of being a practicing artist includes passing on the experience and knowledge I have acquired along my own academic journey to young artists. I love getting the opportunity to guide and inspire them as they grow as artists, and for them to see all the ways that art can enrich their lives! I live in Stephenson, Virginia with my husband Kevin, two young sons Miles and Drew, and new puppy, Stuart. In my spare time I can be found working in my studio on my own work, reading,  or exploring nature with my family.

I am thrilled to be starting my third year here at TMS. I graduated from Shepherd University with my Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts in Teaching. My wife is a Studio Technician and Adjunct instructor in the Art Department at Towson University and loves sculpture. Together we have an adorable retriever mix puppy named Moon and we happily live near the Potomac River outside in Maryland. We love to spend time outdoors swimming, biking, and hiking. I typically have my camera with me too when we go on adventures. I love photography!

This year, I hope to inspire my students to use art as a way to express themselves, improve their technical skills of drawing, painting, and sculpture, as well as show them how art can bring us all together as a community. Be kind. Believe in yourself. Try your best!
