Parent Coffee Presentations

Parent Coffee Presentations

The SHMS School Counseling Department hosts Parent Coffees periodically throughout the year. Parent Coffees are parent information sessions, on a variety of different topics. They are informal gatherings, usually with a guest speaker who presents on a particular topic. We typically conclude with questions and discussions with the speaker and attendees.

"Stress Management for Tweens and Teens"

Has stress for our teens become too much?

Our children live in a different world than the one we grew up in. They are growing up in a fast-paced community where they have constant exposure to bad things happening. Add to that the challenges they have endured with a global pandemic and now watching a war unfold on TV. It can create a lot of stress and the adolescent brain is not always equipped to know what to do with it. Join us on March 25th at noon to discuss what we do to help our children through these challenging times by practicing sound stress management strategies that can serve them for the rest of their lives. Susan McCormick, LMFT and owner of The Wellness Connection will lead this discussion and answer specific questions you may have to help you feel empowered to guide and lead your kids through this stressful time.
