Welcome to Third Grade!
Hello, my name is Miss Michelle Warner and I am eager to begin my eighth year at Discovery Elementary. I am so excited to co-teach with Mr. Nolle again this year and to welcome our third-grade family for the 2024-2025 school year! Here is a little about me:
I grew up in the town of State College, Pennsylvania, where I also attended Penn State University (WE ARE!). I earned my B.S. in Childhood and Early Adolescent Education and a minor in Special Education. I am currently in grad school at UVA, working towards a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, focusing on Special Education. I will graduate with my Master's in December!
In my spare time, I love being with family and friends, traveling to new places, going to the beach, hiking, fishing, reading, and crafting. My sister lives in the northeast of England, so I love traveling to the UK and exploring with her! I also love walking and playing fetch with my goldendoodle, Maisy.
As a teacher, I aim to create an environment where each student can grow as a learner and person. I work to foster student ownership through reflection and choice. I am trained in the Responsive Classroom, an approach that focuses on the relationship between academic success and social-emotional learning. Most importantly, I want learning to be FUN and memorable! I cannot wait to get to know your third grader, work hard, and have fun together this year!
Hello everyone!
I'm Mr. Nolle and this is my third year at Discovery. Previously, I taught in Maryland, DC, and in Mexico City, Mexico.
This is my twelfth year as a teacher, and I am incredibly excited to be at Discovery Elementary School. I earned my Masters in Special Education from the University of Maryland, College Park.
As a teacher, I believe in making learning fun and accessible. I like to joke with the students in my class and play learning games whenever possible.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, writing, playing video games and board games, and running. I'm looking forward to meeting you this school year!
