Welcome to the Library

Vision and Mission

Vision

All students access and use information tools for age and grade-appropriate tasks.

Mission

The mission of the school library program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information so as to empower them to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.

(The following vision and mission statements are taken directly from the LCPS Elementary Library Program Guide.)

Library Hours

The library is open every day from 7:10-2:10.  Our library follows a fixed schedule where all students visit the library with their class every week as a special.  Students are encouraged to visit the library as needed to utilize print and online resources.  We are happy to assist individuals or small groups of students with their work throughout the school day.

Library Staff

This is Kate Conlon Lorin's 20th year teaching in Loudoun County.  She is very excited to be the librarian at Mountain View Elementary!

Mrs. Lorin grew up in a small town in central Pennsylvania (near State College, home of Penn State University).  After growing up so close to Penn State, she decided to become a Nittany Lion.   Mrs. Lorin's undergraduate degree is in Individual and Family Studies with a focus on child development.  She completed her teaching certification and taught kindergarten and third grade in New Jersey.  Mrs. Lorin went on to complete her Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Penn State,  and then worked as an education consultant. Mrs. Lorin moved to Loudoun County in 2004 and taught 5th grade for 18 years, until she completed her certification to become a school librarian at Longwood University.  She is very excited to work with all grade levels to help instill a love of reading into all students.

Mrs. Lorin's favorite things are books, concerts, theater, and anything that involves the beach.  She loves to travel and read, and she loves to spend time with family and friends.

Mrs. Hurst loves being Mountain View's library assistant. This is her fifth year as a library assistant.  Previously, she was an instructional assistant at Mountain View for three years.

In her free time, Mrs. Hurst enjoys painting and art, spending time with her family, reading, and spending time outdoors.
