Schools utilize Entry/Exit Criteria to determine which tier of support students need and to move students from one tier to another, either a less intense or more advanced tier, when progress or lack of progress is evident. While general division-wide guidelines are provided, each school should create Entry/Exit Criteria specific customized to the specific assessment, classroom achievement, and other relevant student data it uses to inform instruction.
The RTI Process Flow Chart generally outlines how decisions regarding tiered support are made.
LCPS elementary, middle and high schools use the LCPS Decision Trees to efficiently and effectively make data-based decisions to determine appropriate tiered reading support for all students and match differentiation and/or interventions to identified needs.
These decision trees are guidance documents that support instructional and/or intervention decision making using multiple data points from screening, diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments.
