Adding and subtracting decimal numbers works just like adding and subtracting whole numbers. The important thing with both whole number and decimal numbers is to vertically line up similar places: hundreds with hundreds, tens with tens, units with units, tenths with tenths, etc.
Extra care has to be taken with lining up decimal numbers because the numbers may not be "even" on either the left or the right side.
Attaching the zero to the end of the number is particularly important with decimal subtraction.
