AP Letter for Parents and Guardians: 2021-2022 (Note: this letter will also be in our weekly update and will be e-mailed to all LVHS families)
We are pleased that your student has chosen to take an Advanced Placement (AP) course this year and want to assist you in planning for the AP exam, which will be administered in person, at school, via a paper test May 2-13, 2022. Students must register for an AP test by Friday, November 5. This can be done by filling out the Google Survey below.

Requests received after that date will result in a $40 late fee, per test. Students who register for a test but do not take it may be charged a $40 unused test fee. The AP exam administration schedule is attached. Loudoun County Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, May 3, in observance of a religious holiday. Students scheduled to take the AP Environmental Science and/or AP Psychology exams on May 3 will be rescheduled to test on Tuesday, May 17, during the late testing window. No fees or penalties will result from this change.
Students must provide their own transportation to school on the day of testing. Morning exams begin at 7:45 AM and afternoon exams begin at 12:15 PM, with exams lasting about 4 hours. Students may not be dismissed from an exam until all students have finished testing, per College Board regulations. Please make every effort to schedule vacations, appointments, or other activities on dates that do not conflict with the test administration dates, as make-up testing is permitted for verified emergencies only.
Beginning with School Year 2021-2022, Loudoun County Public Schools will pay for up to four AP tests, per enrolled student, for the duration of their high school tenure. After those four, students, parents, and/or guardians are responsible for all financial obligations, the exception being students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Each exam is $87.00, with the exception of AP Seminar and AP Research, which are $135.00. Students are encouraged to contact their post-secondary institutions of interest to determine whether they accept AP scores for credit or course promotion. Additional information for parents and students can be accessed through the College Board’s site and the LCPS website.
Additional ACL Information
Academies of Loudoun students have a choice to take one, some, or all exams at the Academies. Students must decide where they would like to take the AP Test(s) by November 5, 2021. If you change testing locations after 11/5, you may be subject to the $40 late fee. The Academies of Loudoun will offer ALL AP exams, regardless if the class is offered on site. It is important to know, in deciding where to test, that transportation will NOT be provided mid-day if a student chooses to test at their homeschool on an ACL day. Parents/guardians/students must provide their own transportation to the school if the test is scheduled for 8:00 AM and from the school if the test goes beyond 3:15 PM on the day of testing. The AP exam schedule is attached with the A-Day/B-Day schedule to assist in making your decision about where to test.
