Our Mission

The mission of the Independence High School Library is to make a positive impact on the school by building lasting relationships with students and staff, creating a welcoming and safe library environment for all learners, and turning students into lifelong lovers of reading and learning. The IHS Library aims to enhance the personal and academic lives of the students and staff and support the learning of all individuals at the school. It works towards ensuring all students learn effective and efficient strategies for navigating an information rich world and aids in the creation of learners who will be successful users of technology and information in the outside world.

Come See us!

All students are welcome at the IHS Library! Come hang out with friends, play a board game, color, build a puzzle, or explore our craft and maker materials. The Library staff can assist you in finding your next great read. We can also help you with questions about books, research, citations, library resources, proofreading a paper, and so much more. Come see us!

To come to the library during Study Hall:

Create an eHallpass to the library and have your teacher approve it. The pass will turn green when approved. Each study hall is allowed 4 students at one time.

To come to the library during Lunch:

See Mr. Elliot or Mr. Grimes at the front of the cafeteria for a Library Lunch eHallpass!

Monthly Maker Event

Every month we have a free Makerspace Event for students and staff! Our next event, Create Your Own Stuffed Creatures, will be on April 11th and 12th during all four lunches.

We are something to Follow!
