Career Exploration is a key component of post-secondary planning and an important consideration when selecting classes.
At Heritage we recognize and value that there are many different career paths available to our students and the preparation for these may look very different. Some careers require a college degree. Some careers require a certification. Some careers are advanced through apprenticeships and some are enhanced through military service. All are to be respected and prepared for and now is the time to explore and begin that preparation.
While graduation requires specific course requirements, the balance in the level of rigor that students select as well as the types of electives they choose should always take into consideration the career paths they want to explore. Don't feel pressure that you must pick a career path now and stick to it. You may very likely change your mind during high school and after, and that is OK. But thinking about the bigger picture (there is life after high school!) will help guide your choices. Sometimes learning what you do NOT enjoy is as helpful of a lesson as anything else.
Your Pride School Counselors deliver Career Exploration lessons through SchooLinks for all grade levels in the fall and in the spring.
Lessons are linked below and we encourage our student to continue to research careers and preparation through SchooLinks which they can access at anytime and anywhere through LCPSGo.
