Patriot Folders

Patriot Folders will hold information from Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, Louisa County Parks and Recreation, and special notices from us about our 5th grade classrooms. 

• Folders will come home everyday.

• Please check folders daily for important forms and graded work. 

Money

When sending money with your child to school, please send it in labeled with its purpose

• Please send in the exact amount needed. No change can be made at school

• Checks should be made to Thomas Jefferson Elementary School unless otherwise written on flyers/notices sent home. 

• For lunch, it is helpful to write the student number on the check 

Transportation Changes

• If changes need to be made, you should call the office by 12:00 pm or send your child with a note. Your note will be sent to the office and a bus pass will be given to your child at dismissal. Please include your child’s first and last name.

• PLEASE do not email or call in transportation changes to the classroom teacher.  Contact the main office at (540-967-0492).

Absences and Tardies

• If your child is absent from school, please send a note when he/she returns explaining the absence. This note will be turned into the office.  Missed work must be returned within 3 days of your child returning to school.

• Please also make sure that your child is at school on time. Tardy students miss important morning directions and lessons and disrupt the class.

Water Bottles

• Please send only water in school water bottles. Water will be allowed in the classroom. Any other drinks, ex: juices, will need to be saved for lunch. 

Breakfast/Lunch

• Thomas Jefferson Elementary will be participating in the national School Breakfast and Lunch Program’s Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This means that all children enrolled in Thomas Jefferson will receive a healthy breakfast and lunch, each day, at no charge 

• Breakfast will be Grab and Go this year; students can choose from the available meals upon entering into the building; they will continue to eat breakfast in the classroom

Ice Cream

• All ice cream will be pre-paid per semester for $15.   

• All students who have paid will be allowed to order ice cream on Mondays. 

• Ice cream will be delivered to the purchasing students’ classes on Friday. If school is closed on Friday, ice cream will be delivered the next day school is open. 

• If students are absent on Mondays, we will order ice cream for them based on the choice indicated on the form.

• If students are absent on Fridays, they will not receive ice cream that week.

Birthday Treats

• Cupcakes can be purchased through the Louisa County Public Schools Nutrition program.  Please see the link on the LCPS Nutrition Department webpage for an order form and more information.
