Hello! My name is Lisa Harris. I am the Library Media Specialist at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. I grew up on a dairy farm in Somerset, Pennsylvania. My family also had a maple sugar camp on the farm where we made pure Pennsylvania maple syrup. I graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education. I decided that I liked school so much at that point, and I wanted to continue the life of a college student, so I enrolled in the Masters program at California University of Pennsylvania. I graduated with honors in 1987, obtaining a Master of Education Reading Specialist degree. I have also completed a program at Longwood University for certification as a Library Media Specialist.

I came to Thomas Jefferson in 1987, and have been here ever since. I was a Chapter I teacher working with students in grades one through six until 1991, when I switched to a second grade classroom. In 1996, I went back to Title I to teach reading again in grades one through six. From 1999 until 2018, Iwas in the Reading Resource position at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. In 2018 I moved to the library. where I can promote books, library skills and the love of reading to all students at Thomas Jefferson.

I met my husband, Mark, when I moved to Virginia. He is currently a teacher at Louisa County High School. We live in Louisa county, where we raised our two sons and are now enjoying being grandparents. We also have a dog named Maddie and three cats: Sophie, Luna ,and Princess Jasmine to keep us company.
