Analytic Rubric

An analytic rubric is one that explicitly breaks down an assignment into its constitutive skills and provides students with guidelines for what each performance level looks like for each skill.

CSIP

Comprehensive School Improvement Plan; these plans are created by each school as a way to outline the goals of the school for the upcoming year and the steps which will be taken to achieve those goals.

DDIPP

Data-Driven Improvement Planning Process; this is a formalized process to evaluate overall student performance on a performance assessment.

Holistic Rubric

A holistic rubric provides students with a general overview of what is expected by describing the characteristics of a paper that would earn an “A,” (or be marked “excellent”), a B (or “proficient”) a C (or “average”) and so on.

PA

Performance assessment or performance-based assessment; generally requires students to perform a task or create a product and is scored using a rubric or set of criteria. In completing the task, students apply acquired knowledge and skills. This type of assessment often includes a written component.

PLC

Professional Learning Community; this is generally a group or teachers and administrators who work together to address an issue within a school.

UBD

Understanding by Design; the is a model used to develop curriculum, unit plans, and/or lesson plans which follows three steps - 1) identifying what the student is to learn, 2) determining how the students will be assessed on what they have learned, and 3) developing learning experiences that will ensure the student learns what is expected. This may also be referred to as “backwards design”.
