Interested high school students prepare for a national licensure exam and a professional career through a year-long medical assisting class offered during regular school hours?

The course is currently streamed via distance learning using Zoom technology so students from three North Hawaii high schools can enroll. The students in the three locations watch lectures on interactive television via Zoom, are provided with an assisting on-site teacher, and are given assignments to be submitted online. Students convene four times for skills labs at North Hawaii Education and Research Center.

Medical assistant is the seventh most in-demand occupation in Hawai‘i, according to Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI).
