School History

Our school was established on August 1st, 1968, located in Xinshizi, Qiding Village, Longqi Township, Tainan County. At that time, there were two classes with a total of 119 students, 3 teachers, and 1 staff member each. The school campus covered approximately 4.3585 hectares, mainly consisting of bungalows due to geological conditions. Through the meticulous planning and excellent leadership of successive principals, the teaching environment greatly improved, and at one point, there were as many as 11 classes.

However, due to the mountainous nature of the area and the difficult living conditions, coupled with the population outflow to areas like Guiren and Guanmiao as the industrial society developed, the population declined year by year. Consequently, the number of classes decreased. By the academic year 1988, it had reduced to 4 classes. Subsequently, with the merger of four local elementary schools into Longqi, Longchuan, and Tuzi, the Tuzi branch was closed in 2001, leaving only Longqi Elementary School and Longchuan Branch. Each year, only one class of elementary school graduates move up to junior high, leading to a further reduction to 3 classes by the academic year 1989. At that time, there were six teachers, two staff members, and one worker. Even by the 2009 academic year, only three classes were maintained, with the current staff comprising 7 teachers, 1 specialist teacher, 2 staff members, and 1 nurse. In the future, in order to prevent further population outflow, vigorous efforts are needed to develop the mountainous areas and drive local industrial and commercial development. The school must also actively focus on improving teaching quality to meet these challenges.

Due to the geographical constraints, the classrooms in the first and second phases were oriented east and west, while those in the third and fourth phases were oriented north and south. Over the past thirty years, despite the challenging environment, the school has managed to establish a modest scale. However, with the recent decrease in the number of elementary school graduates, efforts are being made to enhance the aesthetics of the campus and improve teaching environments and methods. Limited funding makes achieving ideal conditions difficult in the short term.

Since its establishment, the school has devoted itself to nurturing young minds, fostering noble character, enhancing knowledge and skills, promoting scientific spirit, improving teaching quality, implementing life education, and promoting national culture. The efforts of both teachers and students have been commendable.

In 2008, the school undertook the Ministry of Education's Digital Opportunity Center initiative to enhance the information literacy of rural residents. The Longqi Digital Opportunity Center was established in the school's computer room, with local elites and government officials serving on the management committee to oversee its operation and provide information education and equipment use to the community.

On December 25th, 2010, with the official merger of Tainan County and City, our school was restructured as Tainan City Longqi Junior High School.

Education is the great mission of cultivating talents for centuries and the foundation of building a nation. All staff members of our school are determined to implement national education policies, actively promote the spirit of tailored education, continuously improve teaching methods, and strive for the advancement of students' learning and behavior, thus promoting balanced development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, group cooperation, and aesthetics, laying the foundation for the prosperity and progress of society and the nation.
