January 7 - January 30
Dear Lubbock-Cooper West Families,
This month, we are focusing on the vital character trait of Courage with our students. For a Cooper Learner, courage means being brave enough to do the right thing, even when it feels scary, new, or difficult. We teach our students that courage is not the absence of fear, but the choice to act despite it, enabling them to try, learn, and grow into confident individuals. We encourage you to discuss this idea at home, emphasizing that every person, including adults, feels nervous sometimes—and that is normal.
At Lubbock-Cooper West Elementary, we are reinforcing everyday acts of bravery. These include standing up for a classmate, trying a challenging math problem, owning up to a mistake, or simply being the first to greet a new student. We invite you to join us in celebrating these courageous moments, recognizing that every small act of bravery at home or school builds resilience and strong character for their future.
