Dear West Families,
Next week, we plan to honor those who protect and serve us each day including Officer Sanchez. We have many parents, grandparents, and extended family at West that have served our community and the nation, giving us the liberties and freedoms we have to live life as we do. We do not ever want to neglect to give our appreciation and thanks to those who have volunteered to be there for us in our times of need.

Staff Spotlight
Officer Sanchez
National First Responders Appreciation Day is celebrated on September 11, but we will celebrate at West on Tuesday, September 12. This date marks a special anniversary for our officer. Twenty-two years ago, the day after the tragic events of 9-11, Officer Sanchez made the brave decision to join the military. As a Marine, he served in two tours of duty in Afghanistan and two tours of duty in Iraq over the course of his 8 years of service as a combat engineer. We are so blessed to have Officer Sanchez with us at West!

Water Bottles
Parents, please make sure your child is bringing a water bottle to school each day!
Student Badges
All LCISD students will be issued ID badges. The purpose of the badges is to maintain the district's high standard of safety and security and to help streamline a number of student and teacher activities. Click here for more information about student ID badges. Students will have one on their backpacks as well to help with dismissal

Staff Member of the Month
Our teachers are wonderful. Each month we celebrate a staff member of the month. If you would like to nominate a West staff member, here is a link to do so. Your words of affirmation and encouragement mean so much to them.
Teacher on the Rise
Is there a West teacher you or your student thinks goes above and beyond? If so, nominate them for the Mrs. Baird’s “Teacher on the Rise” award. Winning teachers receive great prizes, and the students who nominate them will also receive a $50 gift card. Parents, guardians, and students can nominate a teacher. HEB Excellence in Education Award
Created in 2002, the H E B Excellence in Education Awards are designed to honor outstanding public school professionals and to thank them for their dedication and commitment. Through this program, H E B seeks to pay tribute to those educators who go the extra mile each and every day to serve their students and their communities and who inspire others to do the same.
