Fairness

Dear Lubbock-Cooper West Families,

This December, our Pirate and Patriot learners are setting their sights on the character trait of Fairness. In our guidance lessons and classrooms meetings, we are teaching students that fairness doesn't always mean everyone gets the exact same thing; rather, it means everyone gets what they need to be successful. We are exploring how to play by the rules, take turns, and listen to others with an open mind. As we navigate the excitement of the holiday season, this is the perfect time for our students to practice patience and impartiality, ensuring that our school community remains a supportive place for everyone.

You can extend this learning at home by noticing and celebrating when your child demonstrates fairness in their daily life. Whether it is sharing a toy with a sibling, following the rules during a family game night, or admitting a mistake, these small moments build strong character. We encourage you to ask your child, "How did you show fairness to a friend today?" Thank you for partnering with us to help our students understand that being a fair friend is a key part of the LCP and West spirit!
