Here are a variety of resources to help you with the creation of your digital breakout room or scavenger hunt. The resources include website links, video examples, and more. I hope this will help you as you begin your gamification journey.
Articles OR YouTube Videos is a great option for these types of activities. You can have them scan QR codes or embed the links into a Google Site. Students will simply answer questions to help get to the next clue.
Here is a website to help you create free QR codes for any of these.
Crossword Labs is a great FREE resource. There are a couple of things you should know about using the FREE version.
Make sure you bookmark the completed crossword page when you are finished just in case you need to edit the page.
Embed the page into your google site
Download the crossword as a PDF so you can save a copy as well
Canva is a great FREE resource. I typically use it to take large pieces of information and create the following for students to learn in blocks:
Infographics
Social Media posts
Posters
With these, I will typically create a google form with questions that connect to the content in the poster. They must answer the questions correctly to move on or unlock a key.
Google Sheets has some amazing features for scavenger hunts and digital breakout rooms.
Inserting images in the google sheet for evidence they visited each station.
Conditional formatting to create color codes for key boxes or correct answer verification.
FlipGrid is the best way to incorporate video submission in your digital breakout room or scavenger hunt.
Make sure the kids have an account BEFORE you create the activity.
Attach the QR code that is created by FlipGrid so it will take you directly to the page where they submit
Make sure you check the settings on the account to ensure they can submit and see or not see one another's videos.
Thinglink is a great option for images or infographics and you want to share additional information. Some ideas for this would be:
Historical locations
Corporation Headquarters
Buildings
You can add facts to the image using Thinglink. They hover over them and can use them to answer questions or solve puzzles.
