What is an Student Athletic Training?
These students help the athletes of Lubbock-Cooper ISD and the athletic trainers. They are an integral part of the sports medicine team at Lubbock Cooper ISD and help ensure the athletes have the best medical care possible. Without students like you, our ratio would be 5 athletic trainers to 800+ student athletes!
What do student athletic Trainers do?
Duties of athletic training include, but aren’t limited to:
Helping with hydration
Applying ice bags
Helping with taping
Helping with rehabilitative exercises
Helping with practice and game coverage
Assisting in first aid and potentially emergency situations
How does being a student athletic trainer work ?
As a student athletic trainer in Lubbock Cooper ISD you will be expected to work with assigned athletic teams each semester helping out with water replacement, taping, and basic first aid duties. As a student athletic trainer you will develop camaraderie with other students in the program. Other benefits of being a student athletic trainer include: satisfaction of being part of a team, great experience to put on a resume, possibility of pursuing a career in athletic training in college, meeting new people, introduction into the medical field, and ability to earn a letterman jacket.
Time Commitment possibilities include: before school, after school, weekends and possibly holidays.
How do I become a student athletic trainer?

After all the applications are received and reviewed, we will make initial cuts. Following those initial cuts, we will have an interview. Selections will be made based on the information provided in the application, information gathered from the Q&A, character references, and the number of available spots in the program.
